Larry vomited 5 hrs last night. He is so strong to be tolerating this. His body is enduring a lot right now. It is very difficult to watch him struggle with trying to eat but not able to keep it.
I went online to my PC support group sites. A nurse from the John Hopkins site sent me a message asking why he was not checked for gastroparesis. There is a test called gastric emptying that can be done. I was told this vomiting is not typical for PC.
I had never heard of this. A call has been put in to his GI Dr and Internist.
Does anyone have any experience with this? I can read about it online but discussing this with someone who knows of it is more valuable. He is already taking Reglan medication. Thanks Everyone.

ReplyDeleteI am not sure what to tell you that will be helpful. We see it in our diabetic patients all of the time but do not have good treatments for it. The few medications are the ani-emetics (phenergan, zofran, etc) along with reglan - which Larry has been taking. There was one medication awhile back that was wonderful - Zelnorm - but the FDA took it off the market (technically you CAN get it but major hoops to jump through to get it prescribed) because of increased strokes ONLY seen in our elderly population. However, you still can get it in Canada and Mexico without a prescription (but don't ask me how I know this). As far as the vomiting is concerned, my experience has been that this is a very common symptom with PC.
